Appropriate Work Sites
Have visible and apparent needs
Have elderly, disabled or low-income residents
Within 30 minutes of participants’ lodging

It is very important that someone be home during the Workcamp week. The resident should be aware that the work will be done by high-school-aged youth with adult supervision. Workcamp participants are eager to help people in your community who are truly in need.

Avoid Sites Where the Following Situations Could Be a Problem
Firearms
Alcohol or drug use/abuse
Drug sales
Domestic problems
Vulgar language

Workcamps Schedule
Crews usually arrive at the worksite by 8:30 a.m. and work until around 3:30 p.m. Crews will spend approximately 25 to 28 hours at each site. Work will be planned so the crew is assigned to the same work site for the entire week. It is very important for crews to get to know the residents.
However, if a crew happens to finish work before Friday, they can assist on another project or begin a new back-up project.

Tools
Workcamp participants bring many of their own tools. In addition, Group Workcamps Foundation has tools available for use. Wheelbarrows, ladders, cement mixers and other large equipment should be delivered to the sites in advance.

Materials
Materials will be delivered to the work sites and secured by the residents prior to the Workcamp so that the crew can begin work promptly. If needed, crews can request additional materials through a regular reporting process at the end of the day. Some residents may be willing or able to purchase a portion of their own materials. Any materials provided by the resident should also be available the morning of the first work day.

Coordination
During the planning stages, Group Workcamps Foundation staff will coordinate the Workcamp through our offices in Loveland, Colorado. The week before the Workcamp, a set-up crew will work with the local Cosponsor to finalize all preparations. During the Workcamp, our staff will coordinate the work from an office at the local school or lodging facility.
