What kinds of projects do Workcamps tackle?

The list of potential projects typically includes:

• Porch and step repair & construction
• Wheelchair-ramp construction
• Interior and exterior painting
• Weatherization & caulking
• Light carpentry
• Siding repair

Most important, you tailor the work to your community’s needs. Some of our Cosponsors use the Workcamp to take care of simple painting and repair jobs, freeing up their skilled personnel to perform more difficult tasks. Others use our volunteer force to attack pockets of poverty, recover from a natural disaster, or handle a backlog of requests for repairs.

We ask only that the work be meaningful, that the residents be home during the project, and that they be physically or financially unable to perform the work themselves. We avoid work on nonresidential structures. Also, we cannot do any projects involving plumbing, electrical, roofs, or unsafe conditions.
