•What is GWF asking
of your facility?

•This sounds like a ton of work. How will we manage it?

•Other groups ask to use our facilities. How will we accommodate all requests and still conduct
summer maintenance?

•How can we be assured our facilities won't be damaged?

As a Group Workcamps Foundation host facility,
what are we responsible for?

As a Group Workcamps Foundation host facility, you will be expected to provide the following:

Contact Person
We ask that you appoint a contact person with whom Workcamp arrangements can be coordinated.

Office
The camp needs a lockable room in a central location that is equipped with a direct phone line, a fax line and access to your public address system. High-speed internet access is highly requested and appreciated.

Lodging Space
The camp needs at least 30 to 35 classrooms for sleeping (in the case of schools), or enough room for up to 400 people to sleep. Desks and equipment should be moved out of the rooms (if possible) or to the side to make room for sleeping. Fragile or expensive equipment should be removed, marked and stored in a secure area. Rooms containing equipment that cannot be moved–such as computers, science equipment, and band instruments–cannot be used and should remain locked throughout the week. We will mark them off limits.

Meeting Room

A gymnasium or auditorium should be large enough to seat 350 to 500 people for programs each evening. We will need to reserve this space for our use only during the week of the Workcamp (one side's bleachers in the case of a gym).

Cafeteria and Kitchen
The cafeteria must have adequate seating and serving areas, available freezer and refrigerator space.

Shower and Locker Rooms

The Workcamp requires separate shower and locker facilities for males and females. Each shower area must have at least six useable showers per gender, as well as a sufficient hot water supply & waste water management systems.

Tools and Material Rooms
A large, lockable space, such as a vocational shop with outside access is preferred.

Parking
Parking space will be used all week by cars, buses, vans, and trailers.

Access to the Facility
Group Workcamps Foundation staff will arrive approximately three days before the scheduled Workcamp to begin setting up. We will need access to all parts of the campus that are designated for the Workcamp.

Recreation Facilities
Access to recreational facilities such as basketball courts, tennis courts, and baseball fields is appreciated but not required.
